⌈ CHARACTER SECTION ⌉

Character: Sonic the Hedgehog
Age: 15 (He acts older than this, however. Emotionally he's closer to 17 or so.)
Canon: Sonic Game Series
Canon Point: Post-Sonic Rush Adventure

Background:

Here is a link to the Sonic games Wikia, as his actual background has too much content to write here. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask.

Personality:

Upbeat, honest, optimistic, and snarky, Sonic possesses an ironclad sense of personal justice and values personal freedom above all else. When the evil scientist Dr. Eggman began trapping his friends inside his robots as a power source, he couldn't just sit by, even though he was just a kid at the time, and he struck out across the island to put a stop to his operations, despite the dangers involved. The entrapment and coercion of good people are two things he can't stand; whether it be at the hands of evil goons, a magic curse or a set of cruel laws. He just can't sit by if there's someone in trouble--especially if that someone is a pretty girl. He's somewhat competitive, a major show-off, and basically everything you'd expect from a teenage male, no matter what the species.

His high-speed nature and overclocked neural network extends to his personality in a few ways: He's extremely hyperactive and impatient, prone to jump to conclusions, very disorganized, and hates to be kept waiting. He also hates enclosed spaces. While not technically claustrophobic, he'll always prefer to be outside in the open air, where he can run. It's not unusual to find him out on a run if there's a problem he has to think through: He'd say he thinks better on the move. In a way, this is true; he's a master of on-the-spot decision-making and making things up as he goes. In fact, the only time he can remember things really going wrong was when he had to make a plan beforehand! He puts a little too much stock into his own serendipity at times, and tends to jump into dangerous situations without fully knowing what's going on ON PURPOSE, and fully confident that it'll work out somehow. Many a time has he been berated by his friends for taking these leaps of faith, even though the world was at stake at the time, and it all worked out in the end.

The only thing he actually fears at this point--other than the loss of his friends--is deep water. Water saps his speed and kinetic energy, essentially rendering him powerless, and his unusually dense musculature means he sinks like a ROCK. When he was thirteen and chasing Dr. Eggman for the very first time and navigating the ancient Labyrinth Zone, the good Doctor decided to destroy the last supports and sink the whole thing with Sonic inside. It was a stroke of brilliance on Eggman's part, as Sonic barely made it out alive against the rising water and the traps of the ruins slowing him down. It was possibly the first time he's ever really felt fearful for his life, and it still bothers him to the point where he won't go in water any deeper than he is tall without a REALLY good reason.

In the end Sonic is an extremely personable critter, and it takes a lot to get on his bad side. Even those who are irrevocably evil are met not with anger but with joking trash-talk as he works to take them down a peg or two. The more someone seeks to get on his nerves, the more smart-ass comments he fires back. Life's too short to think negatively, if you ask him, and positivity has power. It bolsters the confidence of good people, and confuses the hell out of the bad ones. Even in the most dire of situations, he's still optimistic--actually moreso when things look bad, because that's when everyone needs it the most. After all, no one ever figured a way out of a bad situation if they gave up!

Abilities:

Super Speed: The first thing anyone notices when they see Sonic in action is his speed. A combination of natural talents and training have made him able to run incredibly fast, to the point of breaking the sound barrier.

Super-Sonic Boost: Even more than just punching through the sound barrier, he's learned to actually manipulate the shockwave to work in his favor. A boost is powerful, and the wake it leaves behind can leave windows shattered and people thrown aside.

Sonic Wind: Extending that manipulation further, he's figured out how to create small tornadoes that can confuse and stagger opponents.

Chaos Control: With the Green Chaos Emerald, Sonic is also capable of short-scale teleportation. This is a personal teleportation that is restricted to only a mile or so, although more Chaos Emeralds, or larger power sources of the right frequency, may make him capable of going further. This will be used extremely rarely, if at all, because Sonic doesn't want anyone to know that he even has a Chaos Emerald on him.

Alignment: Thras. Sonic seems pathologically resistant to fear, and in fact his tendency to leap into situations makes one wonder if he's even capable of feeling it.
